Identi.caはいわゆるmicroblogging サービス(TwitterやJaiku,wassr等のような。。。）なのですが特徴は3点。
Identi.ca is a microblogging site (like Twitter, Jaiku or Pownce) but with a
difference: the code is Open Source; all the posts are Creative Commons
licensed; and it uses an open protocol for subscriptions between servers.
The goal? Compatibility with the Open Service Definition to preserve user
autonomy.
１）ソースコードがオープンソース
Laconica という microblogging ソフトで、ライセンスは GNU Affero General Public License 。
２）コンテンツが全てCreative Commonsライセンス
パスワード／メールアドレス／IM アドレス／電話番号以外は全てデフォルト
Creative Commons Attribution 3.0となる。
登録画面もユーザ名(nickname）をいれる最初の画面の一番下に下記記述があって
同意して登録となる。
My text and files are available under Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 except this private data: password, email address, IM address, phone number.
３） OpenMicroBlogging プロトコル
。。。ってなんだろうと思ったら specification 発見。うー？
The software also implements the OpenMicroBlogging protocol, meaning that you can have friends on other microblogging services that can receive your notices.
OpenIDが使えるのを手始めに、他のmicrobloggingサービスの友達やメッセージとの連携ができる。
The goal here is autonomy -- you deserve the right to manage your own on-line
presence. If you don't like how Identi.ca works, you can take your data and the source code and set up your own server (or move your account to another one).
「Identi.ca好かん！」と思ったらデータとソースコードを持っていって自分のサーバで始めることもできると。
なるほど、アプリもコンテンツもユーザが自分でコントロールできるようにしようと。面白いな。
